Elite One to One and Small Group Coaching Sessions

Whether Off-Season, Pre-Season or In-Season, Steve provides comprehensive one to one and small group coaching sessions across the North West for Elite Academy, Semi-Pro and Professional Footballers across the Men’s and Women’s game. Steve has and continues to work with some of the country’s finest talent across some of the strongest Academies and has worked with a number of English Football League and emerging Premier League players. Steve’s unique consultancy services provide players across all levels of the game the opportunity to refine skills and drive excellence in specific areas of their game. Steve focuses on establishing effective working relationships with players he works with to ensure they see rewards in line with performance measures. Steve values time with the person before the player in order to optimise training sessions and programmes accordingly.

Position Specific Strength & Conditioning Performance Programmes

A large part of Steve’s work involves strategically devising, implementing and delivering personalised athletic strength and conditioning programmes to the individuals he works with. Steve continues to work with youth academy, semi-professional and professional footballers in the men’s and women’s game with a view to enhancing player output in line with the technical, tactical, physiological, metabolic and biomechanical demands of the game while looking to mitigate injury.

Comprehensive screening assessments and testing is conducted to develop a profile of the players Steve works with and appropriate communication is made with full time club multi-disciplinary teams. The Necessary Science - An Individualised and Integrated Needs Analysis

With the developments in modern day football, there are increased demands placed on the individual which are determined by both tactical instruction and playing position. Within these playing positions, athletes are exposed to a variety of movement patterns, most often unpredictable that require structural competency in meeting these demands in order to mitigate the onset of injury and meet performance outcomes.

As part of working with Steve, he will provide essential time to profile your physical attributes in line with your positional requirements for the purpose of enhancing performance. Progression of a number of performance variables including Strength, Power, Speed-Strength and Endurance, will be the focus in order to maximise player potential and specifically meeting in and out of possession demands. Profiling specific areas of your game with the use of sport science testing and receiving performance data will assist Steve in the design of his sessions.

Personalised and evidenced-based rehabilitation and return to play models are suited to your needs and expectations. Steve’s End-Stage Rehab sessions are focused on a holistic approach in order to develop physical robustness and athlete preparedness while reducing reoccurrence of injury. Testing will be incorporated to measure against pre-existing baseline measurements across areas of your game. Attention towards improving tolerance to specific movement patterns and applying principles of progressive overload will be also be given.

Sport Science & Workload Monitoring with STATSports

Utilising the most robust and industry leading GPS Tracker, APEX Athlete Device from STATSports, Steve captures advanced sport science feedback in order to effectively monitor performance in realtime. As part of individual returning to play following a period of rehabilitation the use of the APEX Device within Pitch-Based exercises allows Steve as a practitioner to manage workload thresholds and provide realtime data to athletes.

As part of your off-season or pre-season period and in conjunction with sleep and nutrition measurements, the use of the APEX Device enables both player and practitioner to regulate both internal and external load parameters including Intensity, Max Speed, Distance and Fatigue. This makes it ideal if you know your key areas for improvement in your game.

Consultations & Athlete Programme Design

In reality, there may be challenges that restrict you from working with Steve on a more frequent basis, therefore, take the opportunity to hold a consultation meeting with Steve with a view to devising an athletic and position specific periodised plan which you can carry out independently with frequent monitoring meetings.

Steve will conduct a thorough profile which will be based upon observation, feedback, specific training goals, while being mindful of prior injury history and football-based epidemiology.   • Steve’s mobility and stability training programmes work concurrently with other periodised training programmes and can be carried out either gym or pitch-based or at home. Mobility should be incorporated throughout complex movement exercise plans in order to help you strengthen throughout full range. In addition, a mobility and stability based training programme can support those returning from injury.   • The importance of training strength especially in-season is critical in order to maintain performance output while minimising risk of injury. In comparison, the changes to strength and power training design and implementation throughout other periods of the season such as the off-season and pre-season should be accurately modified in order to allow for periods of rest and towards adaptation.
